IT Glue vs Hudu: pricing, contracts and switching

IT Glue and Hudu are the two documentation platforms most MSPs end up choosing between, and on paper they do similar jobs: client documentation, a password vault, asset records and PSA and RMM sync. The differences that matter are commercial. IT Glue is sold on a 36-month term with a five-user minimum and an onboarding fee. Hudu is sold month to month or yearly with no minimum and no setup fee, and you can host it yourself. This page compares the two on the terms each vendor publishes, as checked on 21 October 2026, and adds ITFlow as the free, open-source option.
Key facts, October 2026
- IT Glue lists Basic at $29, Select at $38 and Enterprise at $44 per user per month, on a 36-month term, with a five-user minimum and a one-time onboarding fee.
- Hudu lists $27 per user per month billed annually or $30 billed monthly, with no user minimum, no long-term contract and no setup fees.
- Hudu costs the same self-hosted or in the cloud. IT Glue is SaaS only.

IT Glue
IT Glue's pricing page lists three plans. All three include unlimited organisations, unlimited documentation, unlimited Lite Users, the password vault, SSO and automated account backup. What changes between plans is integrations and sync: Basic allows one integration with one-way PSA sync, Select allows two with two-way PSA sync, and Enterprise allows unlimited integrations. Prices are per user per month, in US dollars, based on a 36-month term, and subject to exchange rates in your country. Each plan has a five-user minimum, with one-to-four-user options at $49 to $102 per user. A one-time onboarding fee applies and can't be waived; the page doesn't say how much it is.
Some of what MSPs expect from a documentation tool is sold separately. An auto-documentation add-on that covers automated password rotation, device discovery, port mapping and BitLocker recovery keys is listed at $453 per month on the same pricing page. IT Glue also lists more than 60 native integrations, including Autotask, Microsoft Intune, Datto BCDR and myITprocess, and a public API.
IT Glue was founded in 2013 in Vancouver and is part of Kaseya, which announced the acquisition in December 2018. If you run Autotask, Datto BCDR or other Kaseya products, those integrations come from the same company.
Best fit for: MSPs already on several Kaseya products who want first-party integrations and are comfortable with a three-year term. Check first: the onboarding fee amount, which plan covers the integrations you need, and what your agreement says about leaving before the 36 months are up.
Hudu
Hudu has one plan: $27 per user per month billed annually or $30 billed monthly. There's no user minimum and no long-term contract; monthly and annual plans end at the end of the billing period. The base plan includes unlimited companies, assets and storage, a password vault, IP address management, rack management, a client portal with unlimited free portal users, and the Hudini AI assistant. There are no setup fees, and guided migrations and other professional services start at $199.
You can run Hudu in Hudu's cloud or self-host it, at the same per-user price. Moving between the two later costs a one-time $199. Hudu Radar, its optional discovery add-on, is priced by collector, one per client environment, from $44 per month for five collectors to $449 per month for 500.
On integrations, Hudu lists more than 60, covering PSA, RMM, Microsoft 365 and Slack, and native integrations resync every three hours. It has a REST API and an MCP server for AI clients, which is disabled by default. If you stop paying, the account moves to limited access but you can still export your data, and hosted customers can set up a weekly export to S3. Support is handled in-house. Hudu says it has a few active resellers but isn't adding new ones, so most MSPs will buy direct.
Best fit for: MSPs that want documentation with no minimum or long contract, the option to self-host, and an easy way to export. Check first: whether your PSA and RMM are on Hudu's native integration list, and whether you need Radar for discovery.
ITFlow, if budget is the deciding factor
ITFlow is free and open source and describes itself as an alternative to IT Glue and Hudu for small MSPs. It covers client documentation, passwords, assets, licences and domains, and also includes ticketing, invoicing with Stripe payments and a client portal. You can turn modules off and use only documentation. You host it yourself, support is through its forum, and it moved to stable releases in January 2025.
What a five-person team pays
Using list prices only, five users on IT Glue Basic cost $145 per month, committed for 36 months, plus the onboarding fee. Five users on Hudu cost $135 per month billed annually ($1,620 a year) or $150 billed monthly, with no setup fee. If you add device auto-documentation, IT Glue's add-on is listed at $453 per month, and Hudu Radar starts at $44 per month for five collectors. These are list figures; check your quote, since both vendors' published terms leave room for discounts and currency changes.
What to check before switching
- Your IT Glue end date. On a 36-month term, the switch usually lines up with renewal. Check notice periods in your agreement.
- Export first. IT Glue includes automated account backup with scheduled exports. Run one and check that passwords, flexible assets and attachments come out in a format you can import.
- Migration help. Hudu lists guided migrations from $199. Ask what's included and how long a mid-sized dataset takes.
- Integrations you actually use. List the PSA, RMM and Microsoft 365 syncs that keep your docs current today, and confirm each one exists on the other side.
- Hosting. If you self-host Hudu, you take on backups, patching and uptime. Price that in.
- AI tools. If you plan to query documentation from an AI assistant, Hudu has an MCP server, off by default, and IT Glue has Cooper Copilot AI and a public API. Test with real data before relying on either.
