About

Enhances multi-layer cyber defense capabilities for enterprise environments.

Overview

VMware vDefend Distributed Firewall protects east-west traffic inside VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) private clouds to stop threats spreading laterally. It is a hypervisor-native, software-defined, distributed Layer 7 firewall that enforces context-based, granular policy across VCF workloads, including virtual machines, containers and bare metal.

You get workload-level visibility into application flows to set up macro- and microsegmentation, and the product can automatically create context-aware policies for least-privilege access. Distributed intrusion prevention inspects traffic to block emerging exploits, support regulatory compliance and provide virtual patching for vulnerable workloads. Security policies stay with applications throughout their lifecycle, wherever they live or move, and the firewall scales out as the private cloud grows. It suits MSPs and hosting providers running VCF who need segmentation inside their own or clients' private clouds.

Selling this to clients

MSPs both run this and sell it: you hold the console, the client pays for the seats or the service built on it.
